Chairman Nelson Torbeck called the meeting to order.
Pastor Douglas Meyer opened with a short devotion from the book of
Numbers, and then led everyone in prayer. The
Chairman appointed Scott Torbeck as temporary secretary.
The Elders
explained the calling process that has taken place over the last several months.
They presented a biographical summary for each of the three pastors
chosen by the call committee. These
pastors were discussed.
The chairman
appointed Tim Torbeck, Doug Stein, and Keith Ehrat as tellers.
Pastor Meyer commended the Elders for the work that they have done during
the call process. Pastor Meyer then
led everyone in prayer and asked for the Lord’s guidance in the calling of our
new shepherd.
A motion to
send Lee Schaal as our lay delegate to the Central Illinois District convention
received a second and passed.
The trustees
have been approached with the idea of putting carpet in the Narthex.
This led to some discussion. A
motion to put new carpet in the Narthex, the Elders room, and in the church to
cover the entire white tile behind the wings received a second and carried. The carpet is to match the new carpet in the church.
Pastor Roger
Wohletz was chosen by the voters to receive a call.
This was made unanimous by a rising vote of approval.
Pastor Meyer
phoned Pastor Wohletz and asked if he would consider the call.
Pastor Wohletz said he would and asked if the congregation would pay his
expenses to come visit. The
congregation agreed to pay these expenses.
A motion to use
the $5,000 from the Glenna Meyer estate to pay for repairs to the parsonage
received a second and passed.
The trustees
explained the work being done on the parsonage.
Pastor Roger
Wohletz anticipates visiting our congregation in the next couple of weeks.
After some discussion concerning Pastor Wohletz’s salary, the following motion received a second and passed.
The chairman thanked
and dismissed the tellers. The
meeting was adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer.
