July 2009 Voter's Meeting Minutes
Quarterly Meeting
July 26, 2009
Chairman Charles Kruenegel called the meeting to order.
Pastor Bruce spoke from the Lectern, reading Psalms 1 and read a short
prayer composed by Martin Luther.
The minutes were read and accepted as read.
A motion to accept Pastor Bruce Milash as a voting member of the
congregation received a second and carried.
A motion to accept Pastor Bruce Milash and his family as members of
Immanuel of Augsburg received a second and passed.
The Treasurer’s report was given.
A motion to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented received a second
and carried
The Ladies Aid was given a rising vote of thanks for buying the
appliances for the Parsonage and for the meal after the Installation.
The Trustees reported that they had not yet worked on the drainage
problem in Floyd Meseke’s field.
They still plan to place a canopy over the east entrance to the basement and to
paint the walls under the canopy.
They are working to remove the tree west of the Church sign.
There was a discussion regarding the use of the Organ during the
services. It was pointed out that
the Organ can be pre-programmed for a service.
The Trustees will look into this matter as to how it can be done.
At the present Scott Torbeck is donating his time for programming music
into the computer for the services.
A motion to purchase a set of CDs based on the new Hymnal received a second.
After a lengthy discussion, there was a call for a secret ballot.
The Chairman appointed
Allen Sasse, Bob Willliams, and Brad Grandt as tellers.
The motion carried.
Ralph Schaal left two-thirds of his estate to Immanuel of Augsburg.
The family has requested that the money not be placed in the general fund
but rather be used for something special.
The Sunday School reported that they have a good group and that the
Sunday School Picnic went well. They
reminded those present that Vacation Bible School was this coming week.
The Bible Class is studying the Book of Romans and encourages more people
to attend.
The Sexton will be working on grave sites and repairing the bases of
tombstones as needed. A motion to
allow the Sexton to use his judgment in regards to fixing the bases of the
tombstones received a second and carried.
Anyone interested in checking the base of any family tombstones should
contact the Sexton, Rick Sasse.
The Senior Youth and the Junior Youth had nothing to report at this time.
The Men of the Congregation will be serving a dinner on Sunday, August 1,
after the close of VBS. They are
also looking into fundraisers.
The Finance men had nothing to report at this time.
A motion to allow Pastor Bruce to use thirty percent (30%) of his base
salary for a Housing Allowance received a second and, after a short discussion,
carried. The Constitution Committee
reported that we will probably not have our Constitution approved for another
year. There was a discussion
regarding the length of time that the Central Illinois District has had to
approve our Constitution.
A motion to update the Church computer for approximately $250 received a
second and carried. The Chairman
thanked and released the tellers.
After the reading of the minutes, the meeting was adjourned with the
Lord’s Prayer.
