April 2010 Voter's Meeting Minutes
Quarterly Meeting of April 11, 2010
Chairman Charles Kruenegel called the meeting to order.
Pastor Bruce read from Hebrews Ch.12 v. 2 ff, spoke on the crucifixion,
asked everyone to remain faithful, and led those present in prayer.
The Chairman thanked the members for coming.
The minutes were read and accepted as read.
Motions to complete the following actions received seconds and carried:
To accept Jeff Henderson as a confirmed and voting member.
To accept Joseph Alan Radcliff, Addalyn Blythe Schaal, Diana Bauer,
Candace Henderson, and Jacob Henderson as Baptized members.
To accept Karlee Dunaway, Brandi Gathe, Kathy Henderson, Sarah Atwood,
and Shelby Kleinik as confirmed members.
To accept Carla Denning as a member of the church.
To accept Jenny (Harrison) Pryor as a transfer from St. Paul, Shobonier.
The Treasurer’s report was given.
A motion to accept the Treasurer’s report received a second and carried.
The Elders reported that things are going well; they are meeting as
needed, and are happy to work with Pastor Bruce.
The Board of Education had nothing to report at this time.
The Trustees reported placing the money from the Ralph Schaal estate in a
market account. They explained the
bids for the electrical work. A
motion to accept the Trustees’ recommendation of Mr. Tomlinson to do the
electrical work received a second, and after some discussion, passed.
The church basement flooded when an electrical outlet failed.
This was repaired and a new sump pump purchased.
The carpet was cleaned but spots remained in the carpet which was then
steam cleaned. Mold remover will be
used next in an attempt to remove the spots.
The old wooden chairs are on the ledges in the basement.
These are being given away to anyone who wants them.
A notice to this effect will also be placed in the bulletin.
Some of the Parrish Hall doors need to be replaced.
After some discussion, a motion to turn the matter of the doors over to
the Trustees and the Schaal family received a second and carried.
There was a discussion concerning the painting of the interior of the
church. No action will be taken
until after the furnace work is done.
The Trustees will look at the drainage problems when it dries out.
They also ask the Congregation to be patient and to understand the
problems associated with the remodeling of the church.
The Sunday School thanks everyone for their support including the cooking
for the Junior Easter breakfast.
They also appreciate the children attending the Easter Service and encourage
more to attend. The Bible Class is
finishing the Book of Romans and urges more to attend.
The Sexton reported that the cemetery needs work in that many tombstones
are leaning. The problem is with the
capstones which could be replaced with marble.
There was a discussion regarding these issues.
The Senior Youth and the Junior Youth had nothing to report at this time.
The Men of the Congregation are paying for the Portals of Prayer.
The Finance men had nothing to report.
A motion to accept the Council’s recommendation for special collections
received a second and carried. It
is:
Mother’s Day Loose Collection to the Armed Forces Commission
Pastor Bruce reported that he is continuing to make visitations.
He would also like to have a Saturday evening Communion service once a
month. After some discussion, a
motion to allow the Pastor and the Elders to set up Saturday evening services
once a month received a second and passed.
Pastor Bruce also brought up the idea of revising the Cemetery Policy
regarding the number of times that one must attend Immanuel of Augsburg to be
buried in cemetery. No action was
taken on this issue at this time.
After the reading of the minutes, the meeting was adjourned with the
Lord’s Prayer.
